Apparthotel Silbersee Austria

We would like to showcase one of our international projects which connects a hotel to the biomass district heating system in Austria that supplies the Turracher Höhe ski resort, a beautiful and snowy winter paradise in the Nockberge region.

Biomass accounts for around 55% of renewable bioenergy in Austria, mainly in renewable heat. Biomass district heating systems produce 50% of district heating throughout the country.

This system is operated by the @Naturwärme Montafon Biomasseheizkraftwerk GmbH, which was acquired by @ENGIE Austria in 2020. It is a biomass cogeneration plant that generates up to 24 GWh of heat annually, contributing to Austria’s energy security. The biomass is sourced from sustainable local forests. The electricity is fed into the Austrian national grid, while the heat is distributed to individual clients, such as hotels, commercial, residential and public buildings.

@Ventosus were commissioned to connect the impressive apartment house, @Apparthotel Silbersee in the ski area of Turracher Höhe in Austria, to the local Biomass District Heating system.

In collaboration with our colleagues at the @Török Csongor Architecture Firm, our design engineers strived to combine comfort with modern luxury. Our floor and radiator heating systems ensure that every guest enjoys a warm, cosy environment, even on the coldest winter days. The indirect domestic hot water system provides ample hot relaxing baths after a day on the ski slopes.

With a focus on sustainability and efficiency, our design harnessed local biomass district heating and utilised cogenerated electricity, underlining our commitment to green eco-friendly solutions.

For the wellness area, we paid special attention to the quality of fresh air. With a heat recovery technology and dehumidifier, we have ensured the optimum amount of clean air, so that guests can fully enjoy their rest, comfort and rejuvenation.

This project proves once again that our engineering design team is at the forefront of cutting-edge HVAC designs, and we are ready to achieve similarly excellent results on projects in Hungary and internationally, cost-effectively.
